I'll be the first to admit that this bus definitely won't appeal to everyone and it's will no doubt offend the purists. That said it's very fun. With the 2L turbo from the early Subaru WRX this will keep up with a lot of hot hatches and sports cars but it looks pretty well stock besides the radiator and the intercooler scoop on the side.
As far as the conversion goes, it's all been engineered in NSW and the correct engine number is on the rego papers. A solid aluminium radiator is in the back with twin fans and it never overheats or runs hot. The engine itself is all in good condition and was recently serviced. It's adapted straight to a stock 6 rib 4 speed Kombi transaxle and has no issues.
It presents pretty well on the outside with the Kermit green and white but does have some minor rust coming through so will no doubt need some work done down the track. Right now though it's presentable and has nothing that will affect the rego in the near future.
On the inside it's had a middle row and rear row of quality aftermarket seats fitted so it seats 8 people with all seat belts. Carpet is okay but the hoodlining will need doing.
Overall it's a great bus to use now and slowly fix up as you go.
If you're not a purist and you want a Kombi with a bit of power you'll love it.
