Meet Noddy our 1973 VW Superbug L for sale. This is little bug has been created from a picture I had in my head of how it would look. Quite often, the finished product never quite lives up to the way you imagined it, but in this case the reality is far better than I had pictured.
As with nearly all our VW's we started with a beetle with solid bones. This one has excellent original panels, sills and heater channels which is the most important thing for a beetle. I could tell it had been looked after and never been off the road. An older restoration had been completed on it a while back and it was painted purple, but in general it was all very solid.
In restoring it this time round we tried to keep it close to it's original look, originally being red, but we've have made it look newer and brighter than it probably ever looked even from new, thanks to modern paint products.
The body and paint is important, but as with an old VW, the mechanicals are as equally important. As little Noddy has been kept registered in NSW for at least the last 30 years as I can gather, he has been maintained very well to pass his yearly roadworthy. The engine is a very strong 1600 and starts at the first turn of the key whether hot or cold. He is tuned very well and doesn't suffer from flat spots, backfiring or anything unusual. All the gears select nice and smoothly and we have just been over all the brakes.
If you are looking for a daily driver with a bit of character, little Noddy will be perfect.
